Start a Conversation

A classic conference talk is one-way. You speak, the audience listens, and you hope they take something away from what you said.

At Craft & Work, everything is a conversation. Our presenters are the conversation starters.

So you don’t need to bring a finished idea. The classic story arc isn’t necessary because we’re inviting questions, alternatives, and challenges. The idea is to inspire a room full of smart, creative problem solvers to start thinking about problems from different perspectives. The hope is that they will take those perspectives and improve their own work, life, or business — and maybe give you some ideas too.

• Something you think you’ve finally figured out
• Something you’d like to try, but you feel like you can’t
• Something you’re working on and the problems you can’t seem to solve

Great conference talk ideas that might be less relevant for this event:

• Your journey to where you are now
• The latest thing you’re working on and why you’re super excited about it
• A polished case study with a neat conclusion

The best place to start is with the thing you keep coming back to. The question, problem, idea, or tension you can’t quite leave alone. That’s probably the conversation worth starting.
