We’re back in London on Friday 9th October for our fourth London edition, and I’m delighted to introduce the three people who’ll be getting the conversations started: Tim Richardson, Michelle Goodall and Lizzie Davey.

Between them, they’ll be exploring what it takes to grow a service business, why people come together, and what happens when you become the face of your brand. Plenty to get into, and plenty to keep chatting about afterwards. Here’s a little about each of them and what they’ll be bringing to the room.

Tim Richardson

Tim's annual Craft & Work address

It wouldn’t be the same without Tim. He opened our first, second and third London events. Frankly, if the only way I can get to see him is to invite him to speak, then that’s what’s happening. This year he’s joining us to share the realities of running and growing a service business in 2026.

For the record, the board has decided that we only let someone open the event five times, maximum. Definitely no more than five. His newsletter and pod are well worth a read and a listen too.

Michelle Goodall

What 6,000+ communities have taught me about human behaviours and motivations

Earlier this year I attended You Are the Media in Dorset. Amongst many great talks was one by Michelle. After hearing her speak, I knew I needed to ask her to share her insights into community building with the room. Thankfully she said yes.

Drawing on three decades and more than 6,000 communities, Michelle will explore what motivates people. She’ll also look at how understanding those motivations can sharpen your marketing and help you build better connections.

And if that’s not enough, you can buy one of her “Damn Fine” greeting cards, or book her to DJ at your next rave. Honestly, multi-talented people — leave something for the rest of us!

Lizzie Davey

Becoming the brand: what happens when your face becomes the product?

Lizzie is a Brighton-based tea-lover, gin-drinker (noted), and content writer and strategist for SaaS and ecommerce businesses. We crossed paths a few years ago whilst working on content for a Shopify app, and I’ve been a fan ever since. I’m delighted she’s agreed to join us this year.

Alongside her client work, Lizzie runs Freelance Magic, sharing practical advice and resources to help other freelancers build their businesses. Her own name and reputation sit at the heart of it all. That brings both opportunities and challenges.

In her session, she’ll share the upsides and trade-offs of being the face of your business. She’ll cover everything from building personal connections to becoming the bottleneck, with burnout and doing everything yourself along the way.
